Action Research and Initial Teacher Education in the UAE

Intended for student teachers, for practising teachers, for teacher educators, and for educational leaders involved in the teaching of English language in schools, this volume of reflective action research papers marks the starting point from which a new generation of professionally qualified Emirati teachers embark to take up the challenge of teaching English in schools.

Written by young trainee teachers from across the campuses of the Higher Colleges of Technology, from Al Ain to Sharjah, from Abu Dhabi to Ras Al Khaimah, and from Dubai to Fujairah, these papers show the commitment and enthusiasm of this new generation of teachers for learner-centred, meaning-focused, active teaching of language to young learners.
